ADDICTION - HOOKED, IN BONDAGE, WITHOUT CHOICE.
Today really is the first day of the rest of your life.  If addiction has you in its grip, break free TODAY!

Addiction doesn’t happen out of the blue.  Research is beginning to show that a significant percentage of people who become addicts have a genetic predisposition as well as having learned maladaptive ways of coping with life’s stressors.

The addicted person isn’t broken and his addiction is not his fault.  However, once addiction has been established, these people need a lot of help to learn new ways of living without the addictive substance.

The emotional needs behind these addictions are normal and healthy, but the addict doesn’t deal well with the discomfort of normal daily stressors.  He learns to numb himself from stress rather than dealing with it directly.  Twelve-Step and other recovery programs teach these skills, but hypnotherapy gives the addict vital additional tools not available in any other way.

WHEN DOES A HABIT BECOME AN ADDICTION? When you can’t stop without experiencing signs of withdrawal.  Signs of withdrawal are irritability, anxiety, jumpiness, physical discomfort similar to getting sick, headaches, achiness, actual pain, obsessing on behavior or substance, constant and intense desire to return to the behavior or substance when withdrawn.

WHAT ARE ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCES AND BEHAVIORS?  Addictive substances include nicotine, heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycontin, vicodin, all pain killers, sleeping medication, any opiate derivative including synthetic, and even caffeine.   Addictive behaviors include eating, smoking, drinking, drugging, spending, shopping, gambling, sexual addiction, and love addiction.

Any addictive or habitual problem can be treated effectively and permanently with hypnosis, though statistics show that involvement with a twelve-step program or similar support group is recommended, especially in the beginning.

A THREE-PRONGED APPROACH TO FREEDOM. The three aspects of addiction are A) the physical addiction, B) the breaking of the habit, and C) the emotional aspects.

The physical withdrawal is basically gone after a few miserable, horrible days.  The habit is gone in roughly twenty-eight days.  However, the emotional (and spiritual) aspects are the most important and often the most under-treated.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ADDICTION.  People become addicted because the addiction serves a purpose.  People think they use drugs (including alcohol) to relax, escape from an unpleasant reality, relieve pain, energize themselves, or to bond with friends.  Sometimes they feel they can assert their individuality, have more confidence, or to give themselves a little treat at the end of the day.

Addicts use drugs to insulate themselves from their feelings.  But the feelings are still there when they sober up.  The cycle has begun.

STANDARD TREATMENT.  Conventional counseling alone rarely works at all.  Most addicts need intensive support in the first several months.  The recovery rate using twelve-step programs alone is still discouragingly low: twenty-two percent.  And to date, twelve-step programs have the best recovery rate available.  Twenty-two percent recovery is a very SOBERING statistic.

In patient programs give addict a good foundation and a good head start.  They have help getting through withdrawal and they are given the tools but once they get back into the "real world" the same habits resurface.  To avoid relapse, patients need more.

Twelve Step Programs used alone have the highest rate of recovery but it is only twenty-two percent. The value of twelve-step programs and other kinds of support groups cannot be underestimated.  These groups provide the daily, 24-hour support and structure that the addict needs to form new ways of dealing with life.  Other addicts who have achieved sobriety provide the support needed.  There is no cost.  You can’t beat that.

However, many studies show using hypnotherapy in addition to Twelve Step Program results in up to eighty-seven percent success. Hypnotherapy provides the individualized and specific reprogramming that each person needs to be clean and sober.

HYPNOTHERAPY PROVIDES THAT ‘SOMETHING MORE’.  Hypnotherapy stops the cravings, helps the addict through the physical and emotional discomfort while helping him discover and deal with the feelings he is avoiding. It is the missing piece of the puzzle.

When you deal with the feelings that drive your addiction, your desire and dependence melts away.  The urges either go away lessen or are replaced with an urge for healthier substitutes.

Many studies show that hypnotherapy along with Twelve-Step or other recovery programs increases the success rate to eighty-seven percent.  Most have been able to get clean and sober and with few or no withdrawal symptoms.  You or loved one can do the same today.

Whatever your drug of choice, hypnotherapy makes freedom from addiction a reality.

RECAPPING THE STATISTICS.  The success rate with conventional therapy is practically nothing.  The success rate with Twelve-Step Programs alone is low.  It is only about twenty-two percent. To date, it is the best program out there.  However, when hypnotherapy is combined with Twelve-Step, the success rate recovery is very high (about 87%).

CLINICAL STUDIES

  • Significantly More Methadone Addicts Quit with Hypnosis.
    94% Remained Narcotic Free

  • Raised Self-esteem & Serenity.  Lowered Impulsivity and Anger
In a research study on Self-hypnosis for relapse prevention training with chronic drug/alcohol users.  Participants were 261 veterans admitted to Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (SARRTPs).  individuals who used repeated self-hypnosis  "at least 3 to 5 times a week," at 7-week follow-up, reported the highest levels of self-esteem and serenity, and the least anger/impulsivity, in comparison to the minimal-practice and control groups.

  • Hypnosis For Cocaine Addiction Documented Case Study
Hypnosis was successfully used to overcome a $500 (five grams) per day cocaine addiction. The subject was a female in her twenties.  After approximately 8 months of addiction, she decided to use hypnosis in an attempt to overcome the addiction itself. Over the next 4 months, she used hypnosis three times a day and at the end of this period, her addiction was broken, and she has been drug free for the past 9 years. Hypnosis was the only intervention, and no support network of any kind was available.

CELEBRITIES AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS USE HYPNOSIS.
Many well-known celebrities, business and other professionals, as well as just plain folk have used hypnosis successfully to stop addictive behavior.  Ricky Martin is one who openly shares his experience.  He was homeless - sleeping in abandoned buildings and eating out of trashcans.  His account of how hypnosis along with 12-Step Program and his faith saved him is inspiring.  Since the foundation of all Twelve Step programs is anonymity, and many people (rightly so) do not want to make their struggles public, we respect their right to privacy.
