And what a wise saying that is. How many of us would really go back and relive our teenage years or young adult years? We may think so when we look in the mirror on a bad day. But ease in life comes with wisdom. Things are easier to figure out and solve. Solutions are more obvious and more courageously carried out.
How many times have YOU looked up a local plastic surgeon’s telephone number? Perhaps even made an appointment…under a false name. Yes, I confess. It was a monthly activity when I was younger than I am now. See what I mean. My Aunt Mimi was right: there did come a time when I no longer freaked out if my hair was sticking out and I had last night’s mascara running down my cheeks. It’s true. I swear. In fact, I sometimes wonder if I’ve gone too far in the other direction. It comes from working at home a lot. In oversized t-shirts and men’s socks.
But seriously. What I notice most is that my face and body are the billboards of my mind and spirit. It only took me 60 years or so to figure that out. But now that I have, I can share it with those who come after me. Happiness or unhappiness shines through the most expensive of French makeup.
