DID YOU READ THIS?  YOU SHOULD!

From Medicine.net: http://www.medicinenet.com/metabolic_syndrome/article.htm#tocb

What is metabolic syndrome?

An association between certain metabolic disorders and cardiovascular disease has been known since the 1940s. In the 1980s this association became more clearly defined and the term metabolic syndrome (also known as syndrome X or the dysmetabolic syndrome) was coined to designate a cluster of metabolic risk factors that come together in a single individual. In more current times, the term metabolic syndrome is found throughout medical literature and in the lay press as well. There are slight differences in the criteria of diagnosis – depending on which authority is quoted. Regardless, the concept of a clustering of risks factors leading to cardiovascular disease is well accepted.

The main features of metabolic syndrome include insulin resistance, hypertension (high blood pressure), cholesterol abnormalities, and an increased risk for clotting. Patients are most often overweight or obese.

Insulin resistance refers to the diminished ability of cells to respond to the action of insulin in promoting the transport of the sugar glucose, from blood into muscles and other tissues. Because of the central role that insulin resistance plays in the metabolic syndrome, a separate article is devoted to insulin resistance.

YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR HOLIDAY EATING!

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Do you gain your projected yearly weight gain of five to ten pounds between Halloween and New Year’s Day?

Do you spend the rest of the year trying to get it off?

Hypnosis and self-hypnosis can help.

Let me first clarify what hypnosis is and isn’t, despite your greatest fears and your most outrageous expectations.

There are a few things we know about the neuroscience of hypnosis. Brain research has shown that the brain cannot tell the difference between what it imagines and what actually happens. For example, if we took a functional MRI (pictures of the activity in your brain) of you imagining that you’re walking a mile and then while you are actually walking a mile, the very same areas of your brain will light up (show activity). http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2007/0710-brain_scans_of_the_future.htm

An example of this fact is the football team who divided its members into two groups: one group imagined the plays (but did not perform them physically) and the other actually practiced the plays (but did not spend time imagining only). At the end of practice season, both groups performed at the same improved level. In fact, there was some evidence that the group that imagined the plays but did not physical perform the plays may have performed a little bit better. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/11/081117110834.htm

One of the ways I explain how hypnosis works to my clients is by telling them that hypnosis is primarily a result of a person getting “lost in their thoughts”. As you imagine taking one tiny sliver of pie and being satisfied, automatically refusing more, this idea becomes embedded in your response centers.

Also, what you imagine during hypnosis is like repeating a thought one hundred times or more. Repetition is the foundation of habit change, isn’t it? Imagining a thought or response in hypnosis is like repeating that self-talk or self-picturing a hundred times of more.

How does this apply to you and holiday eating? You can close your eyes and imagine eating one tiny slice of pie, for instance and pushing the rest away and feeling satisfied. If you do this ten or twenty times each day, from now through the holiday season, you will embed this response into your response center.

Or you can purchase a self-hypnosis recording from my website: www.hypno4success.com/recordings.php

Or you can arrange a session or two right now and set yourself up for total Holiday eating control and even the motivation to exercise. www.hypno4success.com/arrange_a_session.php
Will you be ten pounds heavier as Valentine’s Day approaches or will you be slender, fit and proud of yourself?
Take a look at my page on Hypnosis and Weight loss www.hypno4success.com/loseweight.php and consider giving yourself or a loved one this pre-holiday gift.
